The Gingerbread latte recipe
Written by Chloé
The gingerbread latte is a delicious hot drink that is appreciated for its spicy, soothing taste. This warm ginger drink is also popular for its health benefits, specifically for the digestive tract. The gingerbread latte recipe is perfect for winter, and is the perfect drink for a magical Christmas!
WHAT IS A GINGERBREAD LATTE?
A gingerbread latte is a drink made with coffee, milk and ginger juice or syrup. It is often enhanced with honey or sugar.
It’s a unique combination of flavours, combining the spicy aroma of ginger with the sweetness of milk, giving the taste of a Christmas-flavoured latte.
Where does the gingerbread latte come from?
The term “gingerbread” is used to describe biscuits or cakes flavoured with ginger.
The word “latte“, of Italian origin, means “milk” and refers to all hot milk-based drinks.
Speciality mixed latte drinks are generally prepared by mixing milk with coffee, as in café latte, or with tea, as in chai latte, or with other ingredients, such as ginger.
The health benefits of gingerbread latte
The health benefits of gingerbread latte come mainly from the ginger, which is appreciated for its medicinal properties, particularly its potential to soothe upset stomachs, relieve nausea and aid digestion.
Ginger is known not only to relieve nausea, but also to stimulate digestion by encouraging the production of gastric juices that reduce digestive discomfort.
This spice also has anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce inflammation in the body, which can reduce joint and muscle pain.
In this winter season, the other benefit of a ginger-based drink is that it improves immunity thanks to its antioxidant properties, helping to relieve cold and flu symptoms such as coughing.
Drinking a gingerbread latte is a delicious way to enjoy the benefits of ginger while savouring a warm, seasonal drink. However, don’t overindulge in this spicy sweetness, as the sugar contained in the drink is not good for your health if consumed in excess.
