What is Colada Coffee?
Colada Coffee or Coffee Colada, this recipe is known as various names. It is simply a Piña Colada with coffee.
Alcohol-free or not, whether you like it, there are many variations on this recipe. Most of the time, you will find pineapple and coco, in ingredients or syrups. For the coffee, there is also different ways to do. You can choose to add shots of Cuban espresso to keep the Caribbean touch, but it’s mostly made with filter coffee, such as cold brew or V60, like we do on this recipe.
What is filter coffee?
Filter coffee can be made automatically, as with electric filter coffee makers, or manually. This is known as “slow coffee” or “pour-over coffee”.
Slow coffee
Pour-over coffee is a manual extraction method to prepare filter coffee.
The most famous pour-over coffee extraction method are French Press, V60, Chemex, vacuum coffee maker or Aeropress. But there are more to discover as pour-over method evolute constantly.
With a pour-over coffee, the coffee taste will be more gentle and subtle, and with a more developed aromatic profile than the result you could get with en espresso.
How to prepare a Colada Coffee?
Ingredients
- 26g of coffee beans (12g for a V60 and 14g for an espresso) Gran Arabica Perléo Espresso
- 200ml of water
- 6cl of coconut milk
- 5cl of pineapple juice
- 20g of white chocolate
Material
- 1 V60 and the jug
- 1 kettle
- 1 scale
- 1 coffee grinder
- Filter adapted to your coffee maker
- 1 espresso coffee maker (manual or automatic)
- 1 pan
- 1 shaker
- 1 glass
- 1 ice cube tray
Preparation
- Step 1 The previous day, prepare a V60
- Step 2 Once the V60 is done and ready, pour over the coffee into the ice cube tray and place it into the freezer until the ice cubes are ready.
- Step 3 Make an espresso and set it aside.
- Step 4 Melt down the white chocolate. Keep 2cl aside.
- Step 5 Pour the espresso shot, the melted white chocolate, the pineapple juice and the coconut milk on a shaker, and shake.
- Step 6 Pour the V60 ice cubes into a glass, then add the previous prepare mixture. Enjoy your drink!
